About Us

Skyline Country Club is for golf. It doesn't have tennis courts, croquet lawns or swimming pools. It has golf. Skyline Country Club is one of those places that when you turn a corner, or for that matter just rotate in a 360 degree twirl, the breathe gets taken from you with a gasp. In a New England setting, one envisions streams, mountains and lakes. Skyline Country Club will give you access and views of all of those features, from Mt.Greylock to the north, to the stream running through the golf course itself and of Pontoosuc Lake to the south. The Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts is one of the prettiest places in America with the mountains rolling out in front of you that they seem to roll out forever. Skyline Country Club climbs over, meanders around and then lazes back down one of those Berkshire Hills. The old legend is that from the 17th tee you can see 4 states. And be lucky enough to play the golf course under a blanket of foliage, you'll feel like you are in a golfing utopia right out of a Thomas Kincaid masterpiece! Then there is the golf itself. From a 102 yard blind tee shot par three to a 522 yard uphill par five that will challenge even the biggest hitters, there are enormously interesting golf shots to be struck on every hole. The course will let you hit every club in your bag. A particular favorite is the drivable par four 14th. The hole starts with an elevated tee shot that drops for what seems like hundreds of feet to a green set in a valley, some 265 yards away. Watching that golf ball drop out of the blue sky onto that green carpet, well golf doesn't get any better than that! A well struck tee shot from this perch seems to hang in the air for hours, and if you get rewarded with an 8 foot eagle putt or a two putt birdie, well that is just all the better. For those in search of a hidden New England gem of a golfing layout, run, don't walk, to the golf course at Skyline Country Club. Testimonial provided by Bill Fraser, who has enjoyed the Skyline golf course for many years!

Established in 1963

Skyline Country Club was designed in the earlier part of the 1960s. Originally opened in 1963 with a 9-hole layout designed by Rowland Armacost. The Berkshire landscape was the perfect setting for an upscale golf-course. The views from the setting made the golf experience very worthy indeed. Mr. Armacost is a renowned designer with a portfolio consisting of many area golf courses. Waubeeka Golf Links and Wahconah Country Club to name a couple. As time passed and the game of golf grew, the addition of 9 more holes was in the forecast. In 1994, the back 9 holes were added also designed by Rowland Armacost. The Skyline club house is a comfortable establishment where great pub food is offered throughout the season. New in the 2010 season, the "Top-Of-The-Line" deck was established with outdoor dining and exceptional views of the course, Pontoosuc Lake and the surrounding mountains.
Skyline Country Club, a semi-private gem in the middle of the rolling hills of the Berkshires of Massachusetts, is a golf course for golfers. Located in Western Massachusetts, America’s Premier Cultural Resort, the "Line" will challenge even the biggest hitters. From blind tee shots, with interesting swings on every hole, to incredible views of Pontoosuc Lake and surrounding mountains, the Skyline Country Club in Lanesboro is a must golf. Golfers enjoy a skillfully groomed 18-hole course in a beautiful New England setting while relaxing on the open-air deck or in our pub, popular with both members and visitors. The Skyline also boasts a fully stocked pro shop, banquet facility and offers daily lunch specials.

Our Team

Jim Mitus
Class A PGA Professional

Golfing is a way of life that all golfers understand. During my high school days, I faced personal challenges and strove to identify who I was. I enjoyed a good challenge and golf provided an answer to something in me that no other sport did. During high school I worked at the Ludlow Golf Course until 1977. I graduated from Springfield College, were I was the captain of the golf team in 1978 & 1979. In 1979 I played in the NCAA Division II Championship earning an All-American Honor. That year I turned professional, earning my PGA Class A in 1983. At that time I began my career as a golf professional and general manager of the Skyline Country Club.

Kevin Henderson
Course Superintendent

I joined the Skyline Country Club as a member in 1994. I loved the course so much I had to work here and was hired on the grounds crew. From there, I worked my way up to assistant grounds keeper, and in 2010 became the Head Superintendent. Skyline offers me an opportunity to use my creativity to alter course conditions and also is a tremendous outlet to include my family in my work.

Banquet Manager

Managing the banquet division at Skyline is a great way to be involved with all the social activities happening here. I started playing golf at the Skyline Country Club before working at the Skyline as a bartender. The family atmosphere here lends itself to work and fun. The laid-back atmosphere allows me to raise my three children, golf when weather permits and have the good fortune to associate with members and seasonal visitors.
